Connor Zilisch is one of the brightest prospects in NASCAR right now and Trackhouse Racing has been working to get the 18-year-old experience in a Cup car while he competes for the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship.
With sponsorship from Red Bull, he made his Cup debut at COTA, driving the No. 87 Chevrolet. Zilisch showed impressive pace, qualifying 14th before being collected in a mid-race crash with teammate Daniel Suarez, finishing 37th. He managed to complete 49 of 95 laps before the incident.
Zilisch returned for his oval debut in NASCAR’s longest race, qualifying 33rd for the Coca-Cola 600. He was involved in a mid-race incident with Jimmie Johnson, spinning, but he escaped with only minor damage. Zilisch soldiered on to finish 23rd while teammate Ross Chastain captured the checkered flag.

And now, Trackhouse has revealed two additional Cup races for Zilisch this year where they will again field a fourth entry. His next race will be June 28 at Atlanta, which was recently renamed EchoPark Speedway as part of a seven-year branding deal. He will also run the August 10 Cup race at Watkins Glen, which is the site of his first Xfinity win.
“It’s awesome to have the opportunity to race two more times in the NASCAR Cup Series,” said Zilisch in a release from the team. “Nothing beats experience in this sport, especially at the Cup level. Thanks to everyone at Red Bull and Trackhouse for this opportunity.”
Zilisch currently sits fifth in the regular season standings for the NASCAR Xfinity Series, despite suffering a minor back injury after crashing from the lead at Talladega that forced to miss the Texas Xfinity race while he recovered. Zilisch already locked himself into the playoffs via a win at COTA earlier this year. He’s also improving on ovals, earning back-to-back runner-up finishes at Charlotte and Nashville.

Rain would not let up at Dover Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon, forcing NASCAR to cancel Cup Series practice and qualifying at the tricky concrete oval. Along with the usual unknowns going into a race weekend, teams also have a new and untested Goodyear tire for this race.
As a result of qualifying being cancelled, the field will be set by the metric — an average made up of 15% of a fastest lap time from the previous week, 25% of the driver’s finishing position, 25% of the owner’s final race finishing position, and 35% of the owner’s points position.

After that somewhat confusing math is sorted out, Chase Elliott ends up on pole position for Dover. The Hendrick Motorsports driver will share the front row with Joe Gibbs Racing’s Chase Briscoe. Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, and William Byron will round out the top five.
Shane van Gisbergen, who won last week at Sonoma, will start sixth. He didn’t sound too thrilled about that in an interview during the rain delay, as he would much rather get some practice time and start deeper in the pack. While a superstar on road courses, SVG still has a steep learning curve at ovals.
Michael McDowell will start seventh, Joey Logano eighth, Ty Gibbs ninth, and Kyle Busch tenth.
Some notable names deeper in the field include defending winner Denny Hamlin in 13th, Ross Chastain 19th, Kyle Larson 25th, and Ryan Blaney 31st.

DOVER, Del. — Chase Elliott took advantage of heavy rain at Dover Motor Speedway to earn the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race.
Elliott and the rest of the field never got to turn a scheduled practice or qualifying lap on Saturday because of rain that pounded the concrete mile track. Dover is scheduled to hold its first July race since the track’s first one in 1969.
Elliott has two wins and 10 top-five finishes in 14 career races at Dover.
Chase Briscoe starts second, followed by Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick and William Byron. Shane van Gisbergen, last week’s winner at Sonoma Raceway, Michael McDowell, Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs and Kyle Busch complete the top 10.
Logano is set to become the youngest driver in NASCAR history with 600 career starts.
Logano will be 35 years, 1 month, 26 days old when he hits No. 600 on Sunday at Dover Motor Speedway. He will top seven-time NASCAR champion and Hall of Famer Richard Petty by six months.
The midseason tournament that pays $1 million to the winner pits Ty Dillon vs. John Hunter Nemechek and Reddick vs. Gibbs in the head-to-head challenge at Dover.
The winners face off next week at Indianapolis. Reddick is the betting favorite to win it all, according to BetMGM Sportsbook.
All four drivers are winless this season.

NASCAR team set to SHUT DOWN mid-season in shock move

A NASCAR team are set to cease operations following this weekend’s race action at Dover Motor Speedway, it has been confirmed.
The Cup and Xfinity Series are both set to be in action at the ‘Monster Mile’ over the next couple of days, but it will be the last time that Our Motorsports hits the track for the foreseeable future.
NASCAR HEADLINES: Major Cup Series change announced as team brutally ditch driver
So far in 2025, the team have run the No. 5 Chevrolet full-time in the Xfinity Series, with Kris Wright at the wheel. However, Wright has now left the team, with Kaz Grala set to step in for their final race weekend.
Our Motorsports and Kris Wright have officially parted ways following the Sonoma race on July 15, 2025. Our Motorsports will complete its season on Saturday in Dover, Del., with Kaz Grala behind the wheel of the number 5 Ferguson Chevrolet,” a statement via Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass read.
“Our Motorsports will cease operations in NASCAR racing moving forward. Thank you to NASCAR, Chevrolet, the fans, employees, and drivers, for a good ride over the last 6 years.”

Why are Our Motorsports shutting down?
In reports since the news was confirmed, multiple factors have been cited as potential reasons as to why the team has decided to call it a day.
However, financial pressures and competitive challenges are said to have contributed, as per Speedway Digest.
So far in 2025, things have not been as successful for the team as they previously have been on track, with the No. 5 achieving just one top-10 finish so far this campaign, and only three in the top-20.
News on the team’s exit from the sport has been rather vague, with their social media channels not having been updated frequently, even in light of the above, and their website having been suspended.
However, after it was confirmed he would be the driver stepping into the No. 5 for the last time, with Wright having departed, Kaz Grala wrote on social media: Grateful that Our Motorsports reached out and wanted to race together this weekend as they close this chapter as a team,”
“We’re gonna give it all we’ve got to cap things off on a high note tomorrow.”

NASCAR’s Cup qualifying was rained out Saturday, as was practice. So NASCAR turned to its data center and whipped out the “metrics” to set the lineup for Sunday’s race.
Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe will start up front, and while we don’t have an early indication of speeds, we’re sure it’ll be fast. Dover is banked at 24 degrees in the corners, which is rather stout for a 1-mile concrete speedway. And that’s why you see speeds comfortably higher than you get at NASCAR’s other 1-mile track, Phoenix.
Sunday’s race will be the 21st of the 26-race regular season, which ends at Daytona in five weeks with the Coke Zero Sugar 400. The 10-race playoffs begin the following week at Darlington.

Drissi’s fourth place finish allowed him to keep up his pursuit of Adam Andretti for second in the Trans Am championship battle
Drissi Motorsports scored its first double top five of the 2025 Trans Am by Pirelli season on Sunday at Watkins Glen International after a unique situation on race day gave the team a second entry at the last minute. 2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi finished fourth in the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro, while Amy Ruman placed fifth in the #7 Chevrolet Camaro, which returned to the track for the first time since Road Atlanta in the spring.
In the team’s flagship #8 car, Drissi had a typically consistent race weekend despite issues with his radio and cooling system all race long. He qualified fourth and ran there for the entire race, once again collecting solid points as he extended his top five streak to six consecutive races. The finish ensured that he would stay within reach of Adam Andretti for second in the Trans Am championship with four races remaining.
“In the end we had a decent weekend and managed to run to the finish,” said Drissi. “We had a car to race for the podium, but because our radio and cooling systems shut down as we left the grid, I was burning inside of the car all race. It was one of my most difficult races in a long time, but I wasn’t going to let the crew or myself down by pulling off, so we stayed with it and didn’t give up.”
The opportunity to run the #7 car arose when Ruman suffered a major incident in Saturday testing that rendered her car unrepairable in time for Sunday’s race. With the #7 Camaro on site and otherwise dormant, Drissi and Ruman came to an agreement to allow her to use the car on Sunday—unique in part because the two drivers have been fiercely battling for on-track and points positions all season long.
“Trans Am is one big family, and it’s important that we support one another both on the track and off,” said Drissi. “Amy and I have been locked in a close battle for third in points for most of the season, and the fans deserved to be able to see us continue that battle. We had our second car available for this weekend, so it was a no-brainer to offer Amy the seat after her practice crash and make sure our points battle was settled on race day.”
With the busiest stretch of the Trans Am season—three events in four weekends—now in the books, Drissi Motorsports will regroup before heading north of the border to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on August 28-31. Drissi finished third in the series’ only Canadian round last year. Click here to buy tickets to watch Tomy race!
