Barnes, Shuflit Win Titles; Tigers Finish Third at SCAC Championships

Rabbit Barnes won two individual titles Sunday and Will Shuflit won his second long-distance championship of the weekend on the final day of the 2025 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Seguin, Texas.
 
The Tigers finished in third place with 124 points, trailing league champion McMurry (218) and Trinity (173).
 
Barnes captured his third straight 1500-meter title with a time of 4:00.58. He is the fourth runner in SCAC history to win three consecutive 1500 titles. Barnes also captured the 800 race for the second straight season with a school and SCAC-record time of 1:51.31.
 
Meanwhile, Shuflit won the 5K on Sunday with a time of 14:41.33 after winning the 10K on Saturday. He also finished seventh in the 1500 on Sunday.
 
Axel Klomparens followed Shuflit in fourth place in the 5K with a time of 15:19.5, while Vincent Mangat placed fifth and Brady Koch was seventh.
 
Josh Williams earned all-SCAC honors with a second-place result in the 400, breaking his own school record with a time of 47.31 seconds. He also finished fifth in the 200.
 
Chase Marks posted a pair of Top 10 finishes in the 400 hurdles (4th) and 110 hurdles (8th).
 
The 4×100 relay team of Tyson Robertson, Holden Perry, Williams and Oliver Smeal placed fifth, while the 4×400 team of Perry Will Nakahara, Barnes and Smeal finished sixth.
 
The Tigers return to action at the Air Force Twilight Open on Friday, May 9.
