Supercars veteran Jack Perkins will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut earlier than planned. The 38-year-old is now slated to race at the Chicago Street Race.
Perkins was originally slated to drive Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 19 at Portland International Speedway on Aug. 30. Now, the Supercars regular is moving his start-up to July 5’s The Loop 110 at the Chicago Street Circuit.
According to a post on his Instagram, Perkins was about to board a flight to Darwin, Australia. He then claimed, “I got the call from JGR that they were looking for a driver for the 19 at the only street track on the NASCAR calendar.”
One phone call later, with Shaw and Partners Financial Services stepping up to sponsor the car, Perkins was set for his new NASCAR debut. Perkins’s original debut was announced on May 23, joining a long list of marquee part-time drivers behind the wheel of JGR’s No. 19 car.
Perkins is a veteran of the Australian Supercars. Over the past few seasons, NASCAR fans have seen several Supercars drivers make the transition to NASCAR.
Though names like Marcos Ambrose had successfully made the transition in the past, the first in recent seasons was Shane van Gisbergen, who made his NASCAR debut in the inaugural Chicago Street Circuit Cup Series race in 2023 with Trackhouse Racing.
Since that race, in which van Gisbergen walked away with an impressive win, the former Supercars champion has made the full-time switch. Fellow Supercars stars Brodie Kostecki, Will Brown, and Cam Waters made their NASCAR debuts in 2023 and 2024 shortly after van Gisbergen’s win.
This year, Brown is slated to race in the Chicago Street Circuit Cup Series race with Kaulig Racing, while Cam Waters is making a one-off start this weekend with Thorsport Racing at Lime Rock Park.

Rain would not let up at Dover Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon, forcing NASCAR to cancel Cup Series practice and qualifying at the tricky concrete oval. Along with the usual unknowns going into a race weekend, teams also have a new and untested Goodyear tire for this race.
As a result of qualifying being cancelled, the field will be set by the metric — an average made up of 15% of a fastest lap time from the previous week, 25% of the driver’s finishing position, 25% of the owner’s final race finishing position, and 35% of the owner’s points position.
After that somewhat confusing math is sorted out, Chase Elliott ends up on pole position for Dover. The Hendrick Motorsports driver will share the front row with Joe Gibbs Racing’s Chase Briscoe. Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, and William Byron will round out the top five.
Shane van Gisbergen, who won last week at Sonoma, will start sixth. He didn’t sound too thrilled about that in an interview during the rain delay, as he would much rather get some practice time and start deeper in the pack. While a superstar on road courses, SVG still has a steep learning curve at ovals.
Michael McDowell will start seventh, Joey Logano eighth, Ty Gibbs ninth, and Kyle Busch tenth.
Some notable names deeper in the field include defending winner Denny Hamlin in 13th, Ross Chastain 19th, Kyle Larson 25th, and Ryan Blaney 31st.

DOVER, Del. – Precipitation fell on lap 131 during the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover Motor Speedway currently suspending the 200-mile race.
After the Cup Series practice and qualifying sessions were rained out, the green flag fell with the sun shining through white clouds, but the blue sky slowly disappeared as the 38-car field made their way through the first two stages of the race. With no stadium lights at the facility, everyone was in the midst of a mad dash to the front of the pack.
Among the veterans and rookies of the field was Jake Finch, who was making his Xfinity Series debut in the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet. He started in 21st and stayed in contention, keeping his car clean. Before the red flag, he had worked his way up from 30th to 17th.
Because the field crossed the line with 90 laps to go, more than halfway through the scheduled 200 laps, the race is official.

“All I can tell you, and this will be my blanket answer for all questions about this is, if you want answers, you want to understand all of why this is happening, come December 1st,” said Hamlin, referencing the start date for the trial. “You will get the answers that you are looking for and all will be exposed.”
When asked if he had any regrets about the path he and 23XI have taken since refusing to sign the 2025 Charter Agreement, Hamlin promptly replied: “Not a chance.”
He later added: “December 1st is all that matters. Mark your calendar.”
Hamlin went on to admit that he would much rather be doing other things, but assured that the lawsuit is not taking his focus away from his primary job as a driver for Joe Gibbs Racing.

One of the concerns with becoming an open team is the voiding of certain contracts, including a clause in Tyler Reddick’s contract that allows him to be recruited by other teams. Reddick drives the No. 45 for 23XI and made it all the way to the Championship 4 last season.
“I don’t have any direct comment to that,” said Hamlin.
Reddick was made availability to the media on Saturday as well, and he was also asked about the loss of charters, but he wasn’t interested in discussing it.
“Everything related to litigation, charters – I don’t have a comment for at this time,” said Reddick. He said nothing further on the matter, even when pressed.

DOVER, Del. — Chase Elliott took advantage of heavy rain at Dover Motor Speedway to earn the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race.
Elliott and the rest of the field never got to turn a scheduled practice or qualifying lap on Saturday because of rain that pounded the concrete mile track. Dover is scheduled to hold its first July race since the track’s first one in 1969.
Elliott has two wins and 10 top-five finishes in 14 career races at Dover.
Chase Briscoe starts second, followed by Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick and William Byron. Shane van Gisbergen, last week’s winner at Sonoma Raceway, Michael McDowell, Joey Logano, Ty Gibbs and Kyle Busch complete the top 10.
Logano is set to become the youngest driver in NASCAR history with 600 career starts.
Logano will be 35 years, 1 month, 26 days old when he hits No. 600 on Sunday at Dover Motor Speedway. He will top seven-time NASCAR champion and Hall of Famer Richard Petty by six months.
The midseason tournament that pays $1 million to the winner pits Ty Dillon vs. John Hunter Nemechek and Reddick vs. Gibbs in the head-to-head challenge at Dover.
The winners face off next week at Indianapolis. Reddick is the betting favorite to win it all, according to BetMGM Sportsbook.
All four drivers are winless this season.

A NASCAR team are set to cease operations following this weekend’s race action at Dover Motor Speedway, it has been confirmed.
The Cup and Xfinity Series are both set to be in action at the ‘Monster Mile’ over the next couple of days, but it will be the last time that Our Motorsports hits the track for the foreseeable future.

So far in 2025, the team have run the No. 5 Chevrolet full-time in the Xfinity Series, with Kris Wright at the wheel. However, Wright has now left the team, with Kaz Grala set to step in for their final race weekend.
Our Motorsports and Kris Wright have officially parted ways following the Sonoma race on July 15, 2025. Our Motorsports will complete its season on Saturday in Dover, Del., with Kaz Grala behind the wheel of the number 5 Ferguson Chevrolet,” a statement via Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass read.

In reports since the news was confirmed, multiple factors have been cited as potential reasons as to why the team has decided to call it a day.
However, financial pressures and competitive challenges are said to have contributed, as per Speedway Digest.
So far in 2025, things have not been as successful for the team as they previously have been on track, with the No. 5 achieving just one top-10 finish so far this campaign, and only three in the top-20.
News on the team’s exit from the sport has been rather vague, with their social media channels not having been updated frequently, even in light of the above, and their website having been suspended.
However, after it was confirmed he would be the driver stepping into the No. 5 for the last time, with Wright having departed, Kaz Grala wrote on social media: Grateful that Our Motorsports reached out and wanted to race together this weekend as they close this chapter as a team,”
“We’re gonna give it all we’ve got to cap things off on a high note tomorrow.”
