Drissi’s fourth place finish allowed him to keep up his pursuit of Adam Andretti for second in the Trans Am championship battle
Drissi Motorsports scored its first double top five of the 2025 Trans Am by Pirelli season on Sunday at Watkins Glen International after a unique situation on race day gave the team a second entry at the last minute. 2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi finished fourth in the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro, while Amy Ruman placed fifth in the #7 Chevrolet Camaro, which returned to the track for the first time since Road Atlanta in the spring.
In the team’s flagship #8 car, Drissi had a typically consistent race weekend despite issues with his radio and cooling system all race long. He qualified fourth and ran there for the entire race, once again collecting solid points as he extended his top five streak to six consecutive races. The finish ensured that he would stay within reach of Adam Andretti for second in the Trans Am championship with four races remaining.
“In the end we had a decent weekend and managed to run to the finish,” said Drissi. “We had a car to race for the podium, but because our radio and cooling systems shut down as we left the grid, I was burning inside of the car all race. It was one of my most difficult races in a long time, but I wasn’t going to let the crew or myself down by pulling off, so we stayed with it and didn’t give up.”
The opportunity to run the #7 car arose when Ruman suffered a major incident in Saturday testing that rendered her car unrepairable in time for Sunday’s race. With the #7 Camaro on site and otherwise dormant, Drissi and Ruman came to an agreement to allow her to use the car on Sunday—unique in part because the two drivers have been fiercely battling for on-track and points positions all season long.
“Trans Am is one big family, and it’s important that we support one another both on the track and off,” said Drissi. “Amy and I have been locked in a close battle for third in points for most of the season, and the fans deserved to be able to see us continue that battle. We had our second car available for this weekend, so it was a no-brainer to offer Amy the seat after her practice crash and make sure our points battle was settled on race day.”
With the busiest stretch of the Trans Am season—three events in four weekends—now in the books, Drissi Motorsports will regroup before heading north of the border to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on August 28-31. Drissi finished third in the series’ only Canadian round last year. Click here to buy tickets to watch Tomy race!

The starting lineup was set by the metric, which factors in 70% from the driver’s finish the previous weekend and 30% based on the car owner points.
Elliott will start on the pole and be joined by Chase Briscoe on the front row.
23XI Racing, co-owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan, and Front Row Motorsports are competing at Dover without charter status after a judge’s decision this week.
Christopher Bell will start third and Tyler Reddick fourth. Points leader William Byron will start fifth. Shane van Gisbergen, who won last weekend’s race at Sonoma, will start sixth.
The green flag for Sunday’s race at Dover is scheduled to wave at 2:17 p.m. ET.
It’s back to the ovals for NASCAR’s premier series.

Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe will start up front, and while we don’t have an early indication of speeds, we’re sure it’ll be fast. Dover is banked at 24 degrees in the corners, which is rather stout for a 1-mile concrete speedway. And that’s why you see speeds comfortably higher than you get at NASCAR’s other 1-mile track, Phoenix.
Sunday’s race will be the 21st of the 26-race regular season, which ends at Daytona in five weeks with the Coke Zero Sugar 400. The 10-race playoffs begin the following week at Darlington.

CHICAGO (AP) — NASCAR is pressing pause on its Chicago Street Race, answering at least one major question about its schedule for next season.
NASCAR raced on a street course in downtown Chicago on the first weekend in July each of the last three years. But it had a three-year contract with the city, leaving the future of the event in question.
Writing to Mayor Brandon Johnson on Friday, race president Julie Giese said the plan is to explore the potential of a new event weekend with his office and other community leaders while also working on a more efficient course build and breakdown.
“Our goal is for the Chicago Street Race to return in 2027 with an event that further enhances the experience for residents and visitors alike, as we work together towards a new potential date, shorter build schedule, and additional tourism draws,” Giese wrote in her letter to Johnson.
Giese said NASCAR is keeping its Chicago Street Race office and plans to continue its community partnerships.
“We deeply value our relationship with the City of Chicago and remain steadfast in our commitment to being a good neighbor and partner,” she said in the letter.
NASCAR is replacing its Chicago stop with a street race in San Diego.
A message was left Friday seeking comment from Johnson’s office.
NASCAR’s Chicago weekend featured Xfinity and Cup Series races on a 12-turn, 2.2-mile course against the backdrop of Lake Michigan and Grant Park — to go along with a festival-like atmosphere with music and entertainment options.
The goal was an event that appealed to both a new audience in one of NASCAR’s most important regions and the most ardent racing fans. NASCAR used to race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, a 45-mile drive from downtown, but it pulled out after the 2019 season.
Johnson’s predecessor, Lori Lightfoot, was in charge when the three-year contract for the downtown weekend was finalized.
It wasn’t exactly a popular move in Chicago. Local businesses and residents were frustrated by the street closures in a heavily trafficked area for tourists in the summer. But organizers shrunk the construction schedule from 43 days in 2023 to 25 this year, winning over some of the race’s critics.
Drivers and their teams had some concerns about the course ahead of the first weekend. But the setup was widely praised by the time the third year rolled around — both the course and the ability to walk to the circuit from their downtown hotel.
Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson called Chicago “probably my favorite event in NASCAR each year.”
The racing in downtown Chicago has been dominated by Shane van Gisbergen, who won the Xfinity and Cup races this year from the pole. He also won in Chicago in his Cup debut in 2023 and last year’s Xfinity Series race.
“I love the track,” he said after this year’s Cup win. “It’s a cool place to come to. You feel a nice vibe. You feel a good vibe in the mornings walking to the track with the fans. It’s pretty unique like that.”

2025 NASCAR Dover odds, EchoPark Automotive 400 picks, props: Expert who nailed 17 winners likes 55-1 longshot
Karl Larson will look to win his fourth race of the season but first since May 11 when he takes part in the fourth leg of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge at the 2025 EchoPark Automotive 400 at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday. He placed second at Dover last year and registered a win there at […]

Karl Larson will look to win his fourth race of the season but first since May 11 when he takes part in the fourth leg of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge at the 2025 EchoPark Automotive 400 at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday. He placed second at Dover last year and registered a win there at the Drydene 400 in 2019. He has 12 top-10 finishes this season. Larson, the 2021 Cup Series champion, placed sixth overall last year.
Denny Hamlin is the +500 favorite (risk $100 to win $500), followed by Larson at +550 in the latest 2025 EchoPark Automotive 400 odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. Sunday’s race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. ET. Before making any 2025 EchoPark Automotive 400 picks or NASCAR predictions, you need to see what NASCAR insider Steven Taranto has to say.
Taranto, who moonlights as a sim racer and has 20 career wins in iRacing, is the lead NASCAR writer for CBSSports.com. He has an annual NASCAR media credential and also publishes a popular weekly NASCAR predictions column, famously calling Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez’s breakthrough wins in 2022.
Taranto was red-hot for SportsLine in 2024 as he nailed 17 winners, including 16-1 longshot William Byron at the Daytona 500 and 14-1 longshot Chase Elliott at Texas. He correctly picked the Straight Talk Wireless 400 winner in Larson on March 23. Anyone following his NASCAR picks at their favorite sportsbooks could have seen huge returns.
Now, Taranto has analyzed the starting lineup and odds for Sunday’s 2025 NASCAR EchoPark Automotive 400 at Dover Motor Speedway. He’s only sharing his best bets at SportsLine. You can also use them to take advantage of the latest FanDuel promo code, DraftKings promo code or BetMGM promo code.
2025 NASCAR EchoPark Automotive 400 expert picks
For the 2025 EchoPark Automotive 400 at Dover Motor Speedway, Taranto is high on Hamlin at +500. He has fared well at Dover, winning the 2024 Wurth 400 and placing fifth at the track in 2023. Hamlin has three Cup Series wins in 2025, winning the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville in March, the Goodyear 400 at Darlington in April and FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan last month. He also has 10 top-10 finishes on the year, taking fourth at the Grant Park 165 in Chicago two weeks ago.
In 704 career races over 21 years at that Cup Series level, Hamlin has registered 57 wins with 368 top-10 finishes and 44 pole positions. His best season finish was second in 2010. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was the 2006 Nextel Cup Series Rookie of the Year. He was named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers in 2023. See which other drivers he’s backing at SportsLine.
Top NASCAR props for Dover
Head-to-head: Taranto sees Ty Gibbs (+110) finishing ahead of Tyler Reddick (-150) in one of the semifinal matchups in the NASCAR In-Season Challenge. Gibbs, the grandson of NASCAR team owner Joe Gibbs, is seeking his first Cup Series win, but has five top-10 finishes this season. Last week, Gibbs finished seventh at the Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. He was second at the Grant Park 165 in Chicago two weeks ago.
Reddick, meanwhile, is coming off three consecutive top-five finishes. He took fourth at Atlanta, third in Chicago and sixth at Sonoma. Reddick had struggled a bit before that stretch, registering a 32nd-place finish at Pocono, 20th at Mexico City and 13th at Michigan. He has eight top-10 finishes in 2025, and finished 11th at Dover last year. See all of Taranto’s picks at SportsLine.
How to make 2025 EchoPark Automotive 400 predictions
Taranto has also identified four other drivers in his 2025 NASCAR EchoPark Automotive 400 best bets. He’s also high on a huge NASCAR longshot who’s going off at 55-1, potentially netting any backer a huge payday. You can only see who they are here.
