The inaugural Hornbill E-sports Championship 2024, part of the 25th Hornbill Festival 2024, garnered a favorable reception as Dr. Mansukh L. Mandaviya, Union Minister of Labour & Employment as well as Youth Affairs & Sports, GoI, presented prizes to the winners during the conclusion on December 7 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
On Saturday, Dr. Mandaviya noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, the Government of India has acknowledged the potential of e-sports, not only for entertainment but also for generating new prospects for youths, fostering innovation, and enhancing economic development.
This event was conducted by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports Nagaland in partnership with LVL UP Consultancy from December 6 to 7.
TWM Gaming claimed victory in the BGMI category at the Hornbill Esports Championship Season 1, hosted by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports Nagaland at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
The team members, Dzieseser Suohu, Kezhangutuo Metha, Areeb Naiyar, and Akash Kumar, took home a cash prize of Rs. 1.20 lakh.
Remorseless secured second place, receiving Rs. 60,000, while Sin Official Mizo came in third with Rs. 40,000.
Vnom Esports finished in fourth place, winning Rs. 20,000.
BO7S took fifth place, awarded Rs. 15,000.
In the sixth spot was SEG Devguru (Rs. 10,000), seventh was Rising Underdogs (Rs. 9,000), eighth was SEG Esports (Rs. 8,000), ninth was Sheleft Esports (Rs 7,000), and tenth place went to Team XYZ, which was awarded Rs. 6,000.
Kezhangutuo of TWM Gaming (Lobster) earned the Most Valuable Player accolade with 20 finishes, along with a cash prize of Rs 5000.
In DOTA 2, the Generation of Miracles (GOM) team from Nagaland took first place, receiving Rs. 1 lakh.
The GOM players included Pedelhutuo Nagi, Vizekhol Pucho, Abu Sothu, Vikepele Angami, Vimetha Kikhi, Imchayanger Amer, and Lichon Ovung.
True Strike was awarded Rs 60,000 for achieving second place
Your New Feeders (YNF) and Get Good Kid (GGK) secured the third and fourth positions, respectively, with Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 10,000 awarded to them.
Tiatoshi Lemtur was crowned champion of FC24 (FIFA), receiving a Rs. 25,000 cash prize.
Tongtiejet Yaden, Onjang Vaiphei, and Pukhrambam Michael finished second, third, and fourth, earning Rs. 15,000, Rs. 7,000, and Rs. 3,000, respectively.
