As the Abu Dhabi GP Constructors’ title showdown approaches, Lando Norris and McLaren responded decisively against Ferrari during FP2.
Norris topped a McLaren one-two finish at the conclusion of Friday’s practice in Abu Dhabi, while Max Verstappen – who has clinched his fourth consecutive World title this season – found himself in P17 struggling with his understeering Red Bull.
McLaren’s Edge in Abu Dhabi?
Following an FP1 dominated by rookie drivers, normal line-ups returned for FP2.
The medium tyre was the preferred choice in the early phases, with Lando Norris setting the pace ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc – who is facing a 10-place grid penalty for a new battery – and Carlos Sainz, with Norris two-tenths ahead.

As the session moved past the halfway mark, the soft tyres were brought into play, with Norris setting a new benchmark of 1:23.517. Oscar Piastri soon joined him, securing a McLaren one-two, while Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg showcased surprising speed in P3.
Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Leclerc, Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen, Alex Albon, and Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top ten.
