Both conferences saw expansion this past summer, with the SEC incorporating Texas and Oklahoma to reach a total of 16 members, while the ACC added Cal, SMU, and Stanford to achieve 18 members in basketball.
The 2023 ACC/SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge concluded in a 7-7 tie. The ACC initially took a commanding 6-1 lead with victories from Notre Dame, NC State, Miami, Louisville, Duke, and Virginia, all winning by less than 10 points. However, the SEC managed to secure six wins in the last seven matchups, resulting in a 7-7 stalemate.
This year’s ACC/SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge includes 11 teams ranked in the AP Top 25. No. 11 Oklahoma will visit No. 22 Louisville on Wednesday evening for the first night’s only ranked matchup. The highlight of Thursday night features No. 14 Kentucky facing No. 16 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, while No. 10 Notre Dame hosts No. 4 Texas in South Bend, No. 18 Ole Miss visits NC State in Raleigh, No. 8 Duke challenges the reigning champions No. 3 South Carolina, Stanford heads to take on No. 5 LSU, and No. 19 Alabama journeys west to confront California.
