The golf has been impressive. The sights are stunning as well. Images from the Bahamas in December always uplift the late autumn spirit.
However, if we truly assess the highlights from this week’s Hero World Challenge, Scottie Scheffler might just take the lead, although not solely for his exceptional play.
No, this recognition is for his witty comment on Wednesday.
It’s a classic. Particularly, his remark focused on finances, aligning perfectly with this piece. It responded to a question posed on Wednesday during his pre-tournament press session:
“I noticed Tiger joined you briefly during the pro-am. What do you discuss while he’s there, and does it feel a bit surreal to be hanging out with Tiger Woods, especially after the season you’ve experienced, how you’ve advanced your career?”
To which Scheffler replied:
“Yeah, I think most of our conversations revolve around finances and how prize pools should increase. Today we really delved into the Ryder Cup and how it’s just ridiculous that we’ve never received compensation. Tiger was quite frustrated. He believes he hasn’t made enough during his career. I feel the same way. I think last year my earnings didn’t reflect my performance. Primarily that, just a lot of complaining.”
Then he chuckled. So did we.
