Your team construction can alter category needs during the draft, thereby changing the value of each player and position. This is why you (if I can get philosophical for a minute) shouldn’t focus much on the overall rankings for hitters and/or pitchers while drafting. That’s also why I don’t include a combined hitters and pitchers (overall) ranking. There are too many factors and variables for each pick — in each very different draft you do — to say definitively that a hitter or pitcher is more valuable.Here’s a quick rundown as we get into the 2025 fantasy baseball rankings…

- Don’t get hung up on the overall hitters and pitchers ranks; positional is more important.
- Reminder from that sentence you read 12 seconds ago: There are no combined hitters and pitcher ranks.
- ECR is “expert consensus rank” but is not always 100% up to date for all contributors — it also skews more often in the overall hitters and pitchers lists (hence first bullet point)
- I will be updating these, so check back when big news happens. Give me a few minutes, but you know what I mean. I’ll be tweaking all preseason.
