Dorottya Telek and Sofia Martinez scored four goals apiece. It would be a one-goal game early in the third quarter before CSUN outscored the Titans 6-1 to end the game. In front of the cage, Erika Staine tallied eight saves to collect the victory. CSUN also received a strong effort from freshman Mackenzie Wood who had two goals and two assists on the day.

SENIOR SALUTE
On Saturday, the Matadors are set to honor a nine-member senior class playing in their final home match. The senior group includes Nicole Bacoyanis, Jessica Matkovich, Kelsey Meyers, Kate Cornejo, Helena Sandhagen, Tatum Scarry, Valeria Martinez, Anna Pal and Dorottya Telek. The senior class have played their entire careers with the Matadors with eight of the nine lettering four years while Sandhagen is a five-year letterwinner. The class possesses three All-Americans in Sandhagen, Pal and Telek while the group has earned a host of academic awards in their Matador careers.

TOP MATADOR PERFORMERS
The Matadors enter the weekend with five total players with 30 goals or more and seven with 40 or more points. Senior center Dorottya Telek remains the Big West leader in goals (95) and points (134) while senior Anna Pal ranks seventh in the conference with 50 goals. On the assist list, Pal paces the Big West with a career-high 64 helpers this season. The team’s other three 30-goal scorers include Helena Sandhagen (38), Sofia Martinez (33) and Kianna Melvin (33). Pal also holds the steals lead on the team with 48 while Telek tops the team in field blocks with 18. CSUN goalie Erika Staine has spent the most time in the pool among the three Matador goalkeepers with over 400 minutes recorded as she has totaled 102 saves.

ALL-TIME LEADERS
CSUN’s Hungarian duo of Dorottya Telek and Anna Pal are set to wrap up their historic collegiate career this season. The twosome will leave CSUN as two of the most decorated Matador players in program history. Telek entered this season as the school’s all-time career goal leader before eventually surpassing the 300-goal milestone this season and eventually reaching 367 total goals. With her 95 tallies this season, Telek is just seven goals away from breaking her own single-season goal record (101 goals) she set two seasons ago. This season has seen more history with Pal breaking the school’s all-time assist mark, reaching 205 total helpers. Pal has also entered the all-time top 10 goals list at CSUN, moving into sixth-place with 191 total goals. With nine more goals this season, Pal would own the distinction of being the only Matador in history to reach 200 goals and 200 assists for a career.

SCOUTING UC SAN DIEGO
The 12th-ranked Tritons are 13-12 overall and 2-2 in Big West play. In last week’s action. UC San Diego dropped a tight 13-11 decision to seventh-ranked Long Beach State. The team’s two wins in league play have come against UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton while the Tritons have a recent win over 14th-ranked Michigan (13-12 score). UCSD’s Caroline Cristl ranks second in the Big West in goals with 70 and tied for fourth in points with 83. Other top scorers on the team include Kendall Thomas (46 goals) and Abigail Schechter (34 goals). In the cage, Lexi Stahl has a slight edge on the team in saves with 85 while Bria Zwaschka has 84.

Series History: The Tritons are 16-12 against CSUN in the all-time series while UC San Diego has won the last 11 meetings. The Matadors dropped both meetings with the Tritons last season as UCSD also claimed a first round Big West Championship match by an 18-11 score.
