Lime Rock Park’s NASCAR comeback just gained automotive muscle. Chevrolet, America’s $47 billion automotive titan, has been named Official Vehicle of the iconic Connecticut circuit. The explosive partnership launches Jun. 27 with the LIUNA 150 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, marking NASCAR’s return after a 14-year hiatus.
The deal deploys Chevrolet’s most advanced models across track operations. From pace trucks to emergency response, the Bowtie brand will dominate the facility as NASCAR reignites its Northeast legacy. This collaboration blends cutting-edge engineering with historic asphalt.
Chevrolet Deploys High-Tech Fleet for NASCAR Operations
A fleet of factory-equipped Chevrolets will become Lime Rock’s backbone. Two Silverado 1500 RST trucks will pace NASCAR’s field, while specialized models handle critical functions. The lineup includes:
- Blazer EV SS electric performance SUV
- Corvette Stingray supercar
- Silverado 2500 LT crew cabs
- BrightDrop 400 electric delivery vans
These vehicles will manage VIP transport, emergency services, and logistical support year-round. Chevrolet activates further with product displays in the fan zone near the main entrance, showcasing new models at the track that famously lacks grandstands, where spectators watch from grassy Appalachian foothills.

“This partnership with Chevrolet brings an iconic automotive brand to the forefront of an exciting new chapter at Lime Rock Park,” declared Lime Rock President and CEO Dicky Riegel. The enthusiasm echoed through Chevrolet’s ranks.
“We are excited to feature Chevrolet’s latest lineup both on and off the track for the inaugural NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event.”
“Chevrolet is excited for the opportunity to form a partnership with Lime Rock Park,” said Todd Christensen, Director of Motorsports Marketing & Activation for Chevrolet.
“With our history competing at Lime Rock Park, we’re looking forward to being a part of NASCAR’s return to the circuit and bringing one of the sport’s most competitive series to the northeast.”
Lime Rock Park Revives NASCAR’s Northeast Legacy
Lime Rock’s 1.53-mile road course last hosted NASCAR in 2011. Its return after 14 years becomes a strategic conquest for stock car racing’s Northeast expansion. The venue, the third-oldest continuously operating road course in America, previously hosted legends like Ken Schrader and Ryan Truex across 20 Busch North Series races from 1993-2011.
Major infrastructure upgrades now complete the stage. Extended pit lanes and enhanced safety features accommodate modern NASCAR competition. Labor union LIUNA’s title sponsorship underscores regional significance.
LIUNA Vice President and New England Regional Manager Donato A. Bianco Jr. said, “On behalf of the 63,000 skilled, hard-working, men and women of the New England Region, who build our states infrastructure, we are honored to welcome the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to Connecticut and be this year’s title sponsor of the LIUNA 150 at Lime Rock Park.”
Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s Chief Venue Officer, emphasized the strategic play: “We are proud to bring the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series to historic Lime Rock Park for the first time.”
Meanwhile, Chevrolet’s operational presence signals deeper manufacturer involvement. Their fleet enables the unique spectator experience that Lime Rock champions, with fans bringing blankets and chairs to hillside viewing spots. As Silverado pace trucks lead the field, this partnership fuels NASCAR’s Northeast resurgence with American horsepower.

NASCAR Chicago Street Race will skip 2026, plans to return in 2027, officials say

NASCAR is hitting pause on its Chicago Street Race for a year, officials said.
In a statement, NASCAR officials said they will not be returning to the Loop for the Chicago Street Race in 2026 “to afford us the time necessary to work collaboratively with the City of Chicago.”
NASCAR said they will work with the city to find a possible new date for the race and also develop a new, more efficient plan, “with a goal to return to the street of Chicago in 2027.”
The NASCAR Chicago Street Race, officially called the Grand Park 165, has taken over the roads in and around Grant Park for the past three years, with the first race in 2023.
City and NASCAR officials have touted its power to attract thousands of fans from around the world to the city, boosting the local economy. Chicago Sports Commission Executive Director Kara Bachman said in 2024, the economic impact from the event was $128 million, which was 17.5% higher than 2023.
But not everyone is thrilled by the race; residents who live near the course and in adjacent neighborhoods have complained about the street closures, the parking restrictions, and the noise from the race.
Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office released a statement on the announcement, writing, “We appreciate NASCAR’s dedication to the City of Chicago and their commitment to continuing their community engagement efforts, particularly their support of STEM education for our city’s young people. We look forward to resuming discussions around a potential return of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race in 2027.”
Ald. Bill Conway, whose 34th ward partially includes the area where the race has been held, also released a statement, saying “It’s disappointing that negotiators haven’t been able to move this event off the July 4th weekend—especially given how NASCAR has provided Chicago the opportunity to shine on the world stage. Over the past two years, NASCAR has made meaningful efforts to reduce disruptions for residents and businesses along the race route, streamline setup and takedown, and maintain open lines of communication with our community. I hope parties return to the table with a commitment to making this event work even better for Chicago, both logistically and financially.”

NASCAR announced Friday that it would pause the Chicago Street Race in 2026 after completing its three-year contract with the city, NASCAR and Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office confirmed.
The three-year deal for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race was reached during former mayor Lori Lightfoot’s term, with the deal including a two-year renewal option, according to the Chicago Tribune.
A letter from NASCAR sent to Johnson’s office attributed the decision to needing more time to reschedule the event and further reduce the buildup and breakdown times associated with the race.
Julia Giese, the president of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race, said NASCAR aims to return to Chicago in 2027 with a new date and shorter build schedule, according to the Tribune.
Giese added that NASCAR will remain active in community engagement efforts in Chicago next year despite the race’s hiatus.
In a statement, Johnson iterated a desire to move the race away from Independence Day weekend in an effort to reduce strain on law enforcement, adding that the city will explore new potential dates for a 2027 race.
