BATON ROUGE – Josh Williams, recognized as one of the top achievers in LSU football history, has been appointed to the SEC Community Service Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

The SEC selects a Community Service Team for its 22 sanctioned sports, aiming to showcase an athlete from each institution who is actively engaged in community service through outstanding contributions.

Having just completed his sixth season with the Tigers, Williams has obtained two degrees from LSU and has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll on four occasions throughout his tenure. He earned a degree in Marketing in December 2022, and subsequently received a Master’s in Business Administration last December.

Williams has also been recognized as a semifinalist for the notable Campbell Trophy, commonly referred to as the Academic Heisman, in addition to being inducted into the Hampshire National Honor Society. On campus, he is a participant in LSU’s Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society chapter.

Throughout his time at LSU, Williams has consistently engaged in community initiatives, volunteering at the Baton Rouge Food Bank, visiting hospitalized children, and mentoring local youth. He frequently visits schools in the Baton Rouge area to read to and interact with children.

Since the age of 10, Williams has been involved with Jack and Jill of America, an organization he actively participates in. Now serving as an ambassador for the program, he dedicates his time to helping enhance cultural awareness, educational advancement, and engaging in community service projects.

In May 2023, Williams traveled to Senegal for 10 days with some of his LSU football teammates, where he immersed himself in the local culture and took part in various community service projects and activities.

As a graduate player in 2024, Williams was awarded the No. 18 jersey for the Tigers, a number honored for the player who best exemplifies the characteristics of a champion on and off the field, accompanied by a selfless spirit.

A member of LSU’s 2019 national championship team, Williams has accumulated 1,452 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in his 59-game career with the Tigers. He has also made 69 receptions for 586 yards and one touchdown.
