Today, National Federations from around the globe connected with the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) for the third iteration of the Climbing Summit.
The III IFSC Climbing Summit was conducted virtually with the aim of updating its participants, and was moderated by long-term IFSC associate Peter Stafford. IFSC President Marco Scolaris, alongside the Executive Board, convened in Torino, Italy, to discuss various significant subjects.
Following the inaugural remarks from President Scolaris, discussions pivoted to the Olympic Games, where Secretary General Debra Gawrych outlined the roadmap leading to the Games as well as the IFSC Strategic Plan.
The topic of governance was introduced by IFSC Oceania President Naomi Cleary, who engaged the Climbing community after remarks from Francesco Ricci Bitti, President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations, directed to the National Federations.
With LA28 poised to include Para Climbing, IFSC Treasurer Pierre You addressed the newly incorporated discipline, accompanied by former International Paralympic Committee Commercial & Marketing Director Alexis Schäfer, who presented insights on the sport’s future.
A vital aspect of IFSC initiatives, Athletes’ Health once again garnered attention during the Summit and among member Federations, presented by Olympian and Athletes’ Commission member Alannah Yip along with Medical & Anti-Doping Commission chair Naama Constantini.
IFSC Vice-President Wolfgang Wabel elaborated on the Sustainability initiatives looking ahead, before discussions reverted to the Olympic Games.
