The City Council is aiming to rejuvenate the Horseguards Play Area located in St James. Members from the Thornton West Residents’ Association, local children, and other visitors have been contributing ideas on the types of equipment they would like included in the play area.
Community members have been voicing their opinions on the most effective ways to renovate and upgrade a play area in Exeter.
The City Council is aiming to rejuvenate the Horseguards Play Area located in St James.
Members from the Thornton West Residents’ Association, local children, and other visitors have been contributing ideas on the types of equipment they would like included in the play area.
The location struggles with inadequate drainage, which presents a challenge and affects the allocated budget.
Ruth Williams, Lead Councillor for City Management, stated:
“It was wonderful to engage with park users of all ages during the community interaction session. Despite the wet conditions, roughly 30 individuals braved the weather for a chance to converse with the City Council parks staff and express their opinions on what should be prioritized for renewing and enhancing the play park.
“Younger attendees showed a strong interest in having climbing structures included, while others preferred the creation of shaded areas featuring fruit trees, seating and picnic tables adjacent to the play area, as well as a table tennis setup!”
