In preparation for forthcoming construction commencing on December 20, 2024, faculty, staff, students, and guests will notice the installation of construction fencing in the vicinity around the Reflection Pond and the parking areas near Robert Muldrow Cooper Library and Watt Family Innovation Center.

The chief aim of this forthcoming construction initiative is safety. By improving ADA accessibility around the pond’s edge and enhancing the lighting along the walking path, more visitors will be able to appreciate this section of the main campus.

All fencing is expected to be in place by January 6, 2025, ahead of the Spring Semester’s initiation.

A key aspect of the completed project will include filling a small section of the pond beneath the library bridge to establish an outdoor study and learning space next to the library.

The west Cooper Library parking lot will be closed off and secured. This zone will be reserved for contractors to transport and store materials and equipment, although space will still be allocated for deliveries.

There will be no modifications to public transportation services.

Image Description

A parking map of Clemson’s campus featuring three colored boxes and four circled numbers. A red box adjacent to Cooper Library with a red number 1 indicates “West Library Lot closed.” A blue number 2 positioned south of the library points to “5 temporary ADA parking spaces.” A blue rectangle over Fernow Street with a blue number 3 represents “Additional metered parking.” A green rectangle covering Lot E-38 displays a green number 4, indicating “Additional employee parking with connection to the Purple Route.”

Seven employee parking spots on South Palmetto Blvd. will be transformed into five accessible spaces during the construction phase. Alternative employee parking can be found on Nu Street, and there is convenient transit access available from the Purple Route bus stop located on Nu Street.

Metered parking will be available on Fernow Street.
