Following the conclusion of the fall sport championships, Southeast Missouri sits in a tight second place behind Tennessee Tech in the 2024-25 Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Cup All-Sport Trophy standings.

The OVC Commissioner’s Cup represents overall athletic achievement in Conference-sponsored championships.

At the top of the leaderboard is TTU with 41 points, which includes championship finishes in women’s soccer and football, as well as third-place outcomes in men’s cross country and volleyball. SEMO trails closely with a total of 37 points, having claimed titles in football and volleyball (regular-season) this fall.

Lindenwood is in third with 34.5 points, followed by Southern Indiana (32.5), Eastern Illinois (31), and Little Rock (30). The standings are rounded out by Western Illinois (27), UT Martin (26.5), Morehead State (23.5), SIU Edwardsville (22), and Tennessee State (15.5).

The current season marks the 17th for the Commissioner’s Cup, formerly recognized as the All-Sports Trophy. This award was first introduced in the 1962-63 season for men’s sports and the 1980-81 season for women’s sports, previously issuing separate titles for Men’s and Women’s All-Sport Champions. Points were allocated for each of the 19 sponsored sports, with each institution required to integrate its scores from every sport into its overall total.

Under the revised points system (updated in 2022-23), institutions now consider 13 total sports in their final standings. Included in these 13 are the point totals from three core sports (men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and volleyball) as well as the highest placing men’s and women’s track & field event (cross country, indoor track & field, or outdoor track & field). Additionally, schools with football must count it as one of their 13 sports.

The points are assigned based on the number of institutions that support the sport (for example, if 11 institutions sponsor a sport, the champion earns 11 points, with 10 points for second place, 9 for third place, and so on).

Moreover, victors of OVC Tournaments (in women’s soccer, men’s soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, beach volleyball, softball, and baseball) receive an extra bonus point, as do the champions or co-champions of football.

There are still 13 OVC Championships left this year (rifle, men’s indoor track & field, women’s indoor track & field, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s tennis, beach volleyball, women’s golf, men’s golf, women’s outdoor track & field, men’s outdoor track & field, softball, and baseball); additionally, men’s tennis teams compete in the 6-team “South Division” within the Horizon League with a points structure determined by the order of finish in the division standings.
The Redhawks previously secured the OVC Commissioner’s Cup during the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons.
