SIOUX CITY, Iowa [BOX SCORE] In a thrilling pool play clash at the 2024 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Championship, the Montana Western Bulldogs triumphed over the Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raiders in four sets (25-19, 17-25, 25-19, 25-20).
The Bulldogs delivered a powerful offensive display, with Jazi Smith spearheading the attack with 19 kills and Danyel Martin contributing 10 kills. Taylor Petersen recorded 22 assists, while Madisyn Frazier added 16 digs.
UMW outperformed NWC in blocking with a total of 18 blocks (UWM 32 assisted; 12 assisted, 2 solo NWC). Jordan Olson and Danyel Martin were instrumental in the Bulldogs’ defensive strategy at the net, each achieving nine assisted blocks.
Northwestern battled throughout the match, as Jazlin Douma led their scoring with 16 kills, closely followed by Alysen Dexter with 15 kills.
Montana Western displayed impressive skill and secured a major upset against Northwestern in this NAIA Women’s Volleyball pool play match, advancing from pool play for the first time.
The Bulldogs are set to face the winner of Pool H at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday.
