HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A suspect involved in a vehicle theft has been apprehended after allegedly fleeing from police during a traffic stop in the northeastern part of Harris County on Friday.
Authorities report that the chase began on Wilson Road and Will Clayton Parkway after they identified the automobile’s license plate as stolen.
The individual ultimately crashed in a residential area near Old Humble Road before attempting to flee on foot.
Both the Humble Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
Deputies reported that the suspect was apprehended in a gas station parking lot nearby at about 4 p.m.
An employee from a nearby establishment informed ABC13 that the man had to be tackled as he kept trying to escape from law enforcement.
A woman was also present in the vehicle during the chase and crash, but she was later released, according to police.
ABC13 was informed that she did not depart the scene of the accident.
The suspect is currently facing pending charges.
Moreover, Humble ISD notified ABC13 that Fall Creek Elementary had to be secured in light of this chase, although it was not put on lockdown and dismissal occurred as planned.
