Law enforcement is offering a reward of $60,000 for any information that leads to the capture and conviction of the individual responsible for the deadly shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.
Initially, the New York City Police Department announced a $10,000 reward for leads resulting in the suspect’s arrest and conviction.
Later on, the Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed on Friday that they are providing up to $50,000 for information that facilitates the arrest and conviction of the suspect involved in the Wednesday morning shooting near a hotel in Manhattan.

“The FBI is collaborating with the New York City Police Department regarding the shooting death of a 50-year-old man that occurred on December 4, 2024, at about 6:40 am outside of 1335 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan,” the FBI stated in a wanted notice. “We are calling on the public for assistance in identifying the unknown perpetrator responsible for this homicide.”

This comes following Thompson’s shooting and death, which authorities are labeling as a “premeditated, targeted assault.”
The Hilton was accommodating the annual investors conference for UnitedHealth, and it was noted that Thompson had been visiting from Minnesota since Monday, staying in a hotel directly across the street.

Though authorities have not disclosed a motive yet, bullet casings recovered from the crime scene were inscribed with “deny”, “depose”, and “defend” — potentially linking to the book “Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It” — sparking speculation that the murder could stem from grievances over a rejected claim.
On Friday, police indicated that the suspect may have fled New York for Atlanta, Georgia, as investigations continue for further evidence. Authorities believe the suspect traveled to New York from Atlanta prior to the incident.
Further surveillance footage from the area between Midtown and the Upper West Side is still being released.
