At 26 years old, Harney was selected in the eighth round of the Draft by the Rays in 2022. He has recorded a 3.90 ERA, accumulating 124 strikeouts and 44 walks over 124 2/3 innings in the Minor Leagues. Out of his 63 career appearances, 46 were in relief roles. This past season, he made 23 of his 27 appearances in Rookie-level, High-A, and Double-A leagues.
This year, Harney maintained a 3.54 ERA over 40 2/3 innings. He fanned 35 hitters, issued 13 walks, and limited opponents to a .225 batting average. A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Harney achieved a high level of performance, reaching Double-A Montgomery in 2023 and 2024.
