Michael E. Grassmyer, aged 67, of Gloucestershire, England, a former resident of Lewistown and Belleville, passed away at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital following a medical emergency.
He was born on Sept. 29, 1957, in Lewistown, and was the son of the late Donald and Patricia Grassmyer from Lewistown.
Michael is survived by his wife, Christine, whom he wed on July 8, 2008, and currently lives in Gloucestershire; daughters Kristen Sharp and her husband Troy, along with their children Logan and Alaina of Belleville; Kaylee Long and her husband Steve, with their children Jadon, Sarah, and Elijah of Mount Union; and Katrina Vadas and her husband Michael, along with their children Jaycub and Alyvia of Belleville; as well as stepson James Chandler-Reade and his husband Matthew from Gloucestershire.
A graduate of the Lewistown High School class of 1975, Mike worked at Wincanton until his retirement last year. Before moving to England, he had various jobs including at FCI in Mount Union, APM in Allensville, and Boring Transport and Westover’s Garage in Belleville.
He was active in the Belleville Fire Company for many years.
Mike was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and NASCAR, loved dining out with family and friends, and had a passion for photography. He took great pride in his grandchildren and will be deeply missed by his family left behind.
