ONCE MORE, MYANMAR emerges as a significant threat on the global championship front, where M2 showcased the skill of the Burmese Ghouls in the grand finale against Bren Esports, and M4 witnessed Falcon Esports soaring high, where they nearly challenged RRQ Hoshi fiercely.
Speaking of the Soaring Falcons, they have returned to the world stage in M6, claiming victory over the most formidable teams in the tournament, including Aurora and Selangor Red Giants, while paving the way for North America’s BloodThirstyKings to start packing their bags.
In light of these outcomes, Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez expressed high regard for the team, stating: “I believe the Falcon is also a top-tier team because they’re defeating strong opponents in the Swiss stage, so I expect to see great matches from them.”
In their knockout stage debut, the Burmese squad pushed Singapore’s NIP Flash to the lower bracket. So, what makes them a formidable opponent? Here’s what NIP Flash’s head coach, Joseph “Zarate” Yeo, disclosed in an exclusive interview with SPIN.ph.
One of the most versatile teams in the competition
“I truly think they are the dark horse in this tournament as their flexibility in hero picks and drafts means they can adapt and play anything. They are undoubtedly a threat to Tier One teams that others predict will triumph in M6,” began the NIP Flash coach.
Their extensive hero pool can be credited to one standout player, their EXP laner, Arkar “Royal Milk” Pyae.
In Game 1, the Falcons raised brows by selecting Phoveus early in the draft, which caught Zarate’s attention.
“I think Royal Milk truly stood out. He didn’t care about them picking Phoveus before we revealed anything.”
In the following game, he showcased an unexpected Cici pick, ultimately overpowering the Singaporean team.
“In his second game, he demonstrated his flexibility by choosing Cici, revealing his vast hero pool, game comprehension, and effectively targeting the backlines.”
However, there are also other remarkable players to monitor, including their midlaner Yar “Px7” Mon and their roamer Yehtet “KidX” Sithu.
“Teams need to stay alert to their roaming potential and the mage because they favor those heroes, so I believe other teams will need to prepare adequately against strategies involving Tigreal and similar heroes.”
Reflecting on their defeat against the Burmese side, Coach Zarate conceded that his team didn’t perform at their best.
“Honestly, I don’t think they played exceptionally well today. It’s more a matter of us not delivering our optimal performance. We performed poorly, and while they deserve credit for winning, I still don’t feel they played exceptionally today,” he remarked.
With their triumph over NIP Flash, Falcon Esports is set to face the reigning MPL PH Champions, Fnatic ONIC Philippines.
