Recently, Wheels Up, a top provider of on-demand private air travel, teamed up with The Grove Collective, an Ole Miss-exclusive Name, Image, Likeness program, and The Brandr Group for a significant day of service aimed at addressing hunger in Oxford.

As part of Wheels Up’s ongoing Meals Up initiative with Feeding America, a team of Wheels Up Champion Ambassadors, comprising student-athletes from the Ole Miss athletics department, convened at the Oxford Food Pantry to assist in distributing food items to families and individuals in need. Thanks to these endeavors, the students managed to aid around 200 families and community members.

“At Wheels Up, we are passionately dedicated to supporting philanthropic initiatives that align with our company, our customers, and the communities we serve,” said Kristen Lauria, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer at Wheels Up. “We are particularly proud to collaborate with Ole Miss student-athletes in their struggle against hunger in Oxford through our Meals Up initiative. This day of service showcases our commitment to tackling food insecurity while encouraging the next generation of leaders to instigate meaningful change both on and off the field.”

Wheels Up, The Grove Collective, and The Brandr Group share a commitment to eradicating food insecurity. Through the Meals Up program, Wheels Up has prioritized this cause as a key aspect of its community involvement. The brand established this initiative in 2020 to help mitigate the increasing hunger resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since its launch, Wheels Up has raised and inspired nearly 90 million meals in collaboration with Feeding America.

“Since the beginning of this partnership, our athletes have experienced the beneficial effects of giving back to the Oxford and Ole Miss community, which is central to our mission at The Grove Collective,” said Walker Jones, Executive Director, The Grove Collective, LLC. “The chance to collaborate with outstanding brands like Wheels Up and The BrandR Group provides our athletes with a platform to engage with their name, image, and likeness in a significant way while positively impacting the communities they inhabit and serve.”

The Oxford Food Pantry is part of the Mississippi Food Network (MFN), which has been supporting Mississippians since 1984. MFN distributes over 1.5 million pounds of food and provides sustenance for more than 1.8 million individuals annually. This vital organization receives donations from various sources and distributes food and goods through 430 member agencies, ensuring that MFN maintains a broad distribution network and access to those in need throughout the state.

“Collaborations like this one between our team, Wheels Up, and The Grove Collective that highlight charity and service are among the many reasons NIL is positively transforming the collegiate athletics landscape,” stated Chris Marciani with The Brandr Group. “Our aim is to ultimately empower student-athletes to engage, and partnering with the Oxford Food Pantry and Meals Up enables us to create opportunities for them to enhance their community.”
