KENDAL, United Kingdom (December 2, 2024) – A touching documentary highlighting the life-changing impact of cycling premiered before a packed audience at the Kendal Mountain Festival’s Bike Night. Rider Resilience – The Film enchanted viewers with its uplifting narratives about triumphing over difficulties through the solidarity and strength of the cycling community.

Narrated by renowned cyclist and activist Martyn Ashton, the film focuses on the vision and journey of Nils Amelinckx, the founder of the non-profit organization Rider Resilience CIC. Amelinckx’s path, alongside the deeply personal stories of riders Rachael Walker and Sam Rice, showcases how cycling can serve as a beacon of hope and healing in life’s toughest times.

The film explores Walker’s story of utilizing cycling to cope with the emotional turmoil of losing a pregnancy, while Rice shares how the sport became essential as he faced the impact of his father’s suicide, alongside his battles with depression and substance use. Central to the documentary is Nils Amelinckx’s personal experience: diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer at age 30, he discovered comfort and empowerment through cycling, photography, and writing, ultimately igniting the global Rider Resilience movement.

Backed by sponsors such as ORTLIEB, DMR, 7mesh, and Lyon Equipment, the documentary celebrates cycling as a means of both physical stamina and mental fortitude. It goes beyond just individual tales, emphasizing the united strength of the cycling community in assisting its members through life’s greatest trials.

Rider Resilience CIC remains committed to advocating these principles, highlighting the mental and physical advantages of cycling while motivating others to gain strength on two wheels. The overwhelmingly positive reception of the documentary reflects the lasting power of resilience, connection, and the shared passion for cycling.
