(KTLA) — Disneyland has revealed a shutdown date for the Red Car Trolley ride at Disney California Adventure as preparations for the Avengers Campus expansion continue.

The final opportunity for guests to enjoy the attraction will be on February 8, 2025. Construction for the Marvel-themed expansion is set to commence that same year.

During this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, confirmed that two new attractions will be added to the area.

The first attraction, Avengers: Infinity Defense, is designed to take participants to various locations in the Marvel Universe, like New York City, Wakanda, and Thor’s home world of Asgard, as the Avengers confront King Thanos in an effort to stop his plans for universal mayhem, according to Disney. The second attraction, Stark Flight Lab, will engage guests alongside the Avengers as they trial new superhero tools.

In light of the upcoming construction, certain backstage areas will be affected, including the backstage Red Car Trolley barn.

As reported by the Orange County Register, the Red Car Trolley ride was introduced in 2012 as a part of the reimagining of the DCA entry promenade.

The ride was closed in 2019 for the development of Avengers Campus and didn’t reopen until 2022 following the parks’ closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also served as the setting for the “Red Car News Boys,” a 15-minute performance that was discontinued in 2019.

This show drew inspiration from Disney’s Newsies musical and film, showcasing songs from the 1920s and 1930s.

The Red Car Trolley provides transportation for guests around Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land, stopping at locations such as DCA’s main entrance, Carthay Circle Restaurant, the Animation Academy building, and the Hyperion Theater.
