Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are set to occupy the front row of the grid for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, aiming for McLaren’s first constructors’ championship since 1998.

For McLaren to be declared champions, they need Ferrari to score at least 21 points less than them if Ferrari secures victory, or 22 points less if they don’t win.

Nevertheless, while Carlos Sainz starts in third, his teammate Charles Leclerc will begin from the back at 20th due to a 10-place grid penalty for replacing a battery.

Leclerc’s lap was disqualified in Q2 for exceeding track limits, initially placing him 14th, but he ultimately dropped to P20, despite the FIA’s provisional grid listing him at 19th.

The Williams duo of Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto have each incurred a five-place grid penalty for new gearboxes, resulting in them starting from P18 and P20 respectively.

Nico Hulkenberg qualified fourth for Haas, but following a stewards’ investigation, he was demoted to P7, allowing Max Verstappen, Pierre Gasly, and George Russell to move up one spot each.

Lewis Hamilton, racing in his 246th and last event with Mercedes, will start from 16th after being eliminated in Q1.

NOTE: The grid remains provisional until officially validated by the FIA.
