WEST LAFAYETTE — As Purdue athletics continues the search for its next football coach, another hire will help all Boilermaker coaches navigate the coming revenue sharing model.Purdue athletics posted an opening for an associate athletics director - resource management on the university's careers page. That was one day after athletic director Mike Bobinski promised a well-resourced situation for the coach who will succeed the recently fired Ryan Walters.The new administrative position will focus on the House vs. NCAA settlement for intercollegiate athletics — an approved settlement of roughly $2.8 billion where Power 4 conference schools, including Purdue, will funnel back pay into a fund to student-athletes dating back to 2016.The settlement also includes a revenue sharing model for schools to directly pay current and future student-athletes. For the first year, schools can reportedly allocate up to $20.5 million for all athletes. "That world did not advantage Purdue. That world was a challenge for us for a variety of reasons. Our folks don't necessarily respond normally to the way NIL evolved in the recent past."That's going to change moving forward. I think that will bring the world back to us in a very positive way. We need a (football) coach that understands that, that embraces that, (who) understands a new world is going to require a new way of thinking. You can’t dislike the way things have evolved. WEST LAFAYETTE — In the ongoing search for a new football coach, Purdue athletics has introduced another role aimed at assisting all Boilermaker coaches with the forthcoming revenue sharing framework. An opening for an associate athletics director – resource management was recently posted on the university’s career platform. This announcement came just a day after athletic director Mike Bobinski assured that the next coach, succeeding the recently dismissed Ryan Walters, would be in a well-supported environment.

This new role will concentrate on the House vs. NCAA settlement impacting intercollegiate athletics — a $2.8 billion approved settlement under which Power 4 conference schools, Purdue included, will redirect back pay into a fund established for student-athletes dating back to 2016.

Additionally, the settlement outlines a revenue-sharing framework that allows schools to compensate both current and future student-athletes directly. Reports indicate that for the first year, institutions may allocate as much as $20.5 million for all athletes, with flexibility in distributing those funds across different sports as deemed appropriate.

As per the job listing, the new hire will be responsible for planning, monitoring, tracking, and dispensing the revenue shares to student-athletes.

The job description states, “This role will entail the responsibility of ensuring Purdue Athletics upholds its utmost commitment to competitive excellence within the Big Ten Conference as well as in the broader collegiate athletics scene while adhering to Purdue’s enduring dedication to compliance with all regulations and guidelines.”

Bobinski mentioned on Monday that the university’s NIL (name, image, and likeness) framework needed to progress further.

“In the past two-and-a-half to three years, the landscape of NIL has shifted significantly,” Bobinski stated. “This environment did not work in Purdue’s favor. It has presented challenges for us for various reasons. Our community doesn’t typically react in the conventional manner to how NIL has evolved recently.

“However, that’s set to change going forward. I believe these changes will positively realign our situation. We require a (football) coach who comprehends this, embraces it, and recognizes that a new era will necessitate innovative thinking. One must not resist the evolution that has occurred, as it has transpired, and the goal is to prosper within it.”
