The Haughton Lady Bucs continued their undefeated streak with a 50-28 win against Choudrant in the Quitman tournament on Saturday.

In other news, Parkway faced its first loss, succumbing to two-time defending non-select Division II champion Wossman by a score of 41-31 in the semifinals of the Sunday Players Showdown at the Lake Basketball Classic in Lake Charles.

Benton experienced a defeat against South Beauregard, falling 79-57 in the South Beauregard tournament. Meanwhile, Plain Dealing triumphed over Bolton Academy with a score of 67-15 at the West Ouachita tournament.

Nine players from Haughton participated against Choudrant, with Shaniya Perkins leading the team with 14 points and Bella Hammond contributing 10.

Haughton (9-0) is set to host Pleasant Hill on Monday.

Parkway was ahead of Wossman 26-24 after three quarters but could not maintain the lead in the fourth quarter. Dakota Howard and Kenadie Loche were the top scorers for the Lady Panthers with nine and eight points, respectively.

Parkway (9-1) will host Lakeview on Tuesday. Wossman (8-1) redeemed a prior 53-49 defeat to Parkway on Nov. 20 during The Battle on the Hardwood Classic.

The game on Saturday commenced at 9 a.m. Parkway’s quarterfinal win over Baton Rouge Woodlawn wrapped up around 10 p.m., following Wossman’s quarterfinal match.

Kryshna Bostic and Taylor Brown were the leading scorers for Benton with 14 and 13 points, respectively. 

Sugar Sanchez recorded 10 points along with 10 rebounds, while Jannah Carter put up 10 points and five steals.

Benton (6-3) is scheduled to host Mansfield on Tuesday.

Plain Dealing improved its record to 5-3, with the Lady Lions set to host North Webster on Monday.
