CARBONDALE, Ill. – The men’s track and field squad from Washington University in St. Louis kicked off the 2024-25 season with an indoor competition at the annual Saluki Fast Start, organized by SIU.

This initial meet did not have any team rankings.

Leading Participants

  • Pole Vault
    • Junior Hayden Kunkel secured the highest mark in the pole vault with a height of 4.65m.
    • Junior George Bourdier finished in a tie for second with a height of 4.65m, while sophomore Peter Lichtenberger came in fourth with a height of 4.50 meters.
    • Tiebreakers were resolved based on the successful clearance of a height attempt by an athlete.
  • High Jump
    • Junior Jalen Dural tied for fourth place with a height of 1.90m
  • 600m
    • The Bears achieved the top three times, with junior Brandon Brazil leading with a time of 1:22.78.
    • First-years Gavin Zeitz and Alex Feingold-Black placed second and third with times of 1:25.36 and 1:27.57, respectively.
  • 800m
    • Sophomore William Frohling clinched first place with a time of 1:55.65, finishing over three seconds ahead of the SLU competitor in second place.

 
WashU will next participate in the John Craft Invitational hosted by Eastern Illinois on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Charleston, Ill.
