Gervonta “Tank” Davis has made it official that he will retire from boxing following the year 2025.

Earlier this week, the unbeaten WBA lightweight champion spoke to the media stating, “Once next year is over, I’m done. Yeah, out of this game.” When questioned about his choice later, he remarked, “This is trash. This stuff is garbage. I’m done. I’m so over it.” He also discussed his aspirations beyond boxing, sharing, “I just want to earn a living and keep a low profile, that’s all. I want to live without being in the spotlight.” At just 30 years old, Davis is viewed as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters globally. His current record stands at a flawless 30-0, with 28 of those victories coming by way of knockout.

Over the course of his career, he has captured titles in both the featherweight and super lightweight categories while maintaining dominance in the lightweight division. Although he plans to retire in 2025, he aims to compete in three more bouts before hanging up his gloves. He is scheduled to face Lamont Roach, the WBA super featherweight champion, on March 1. After Roach, Davis has yet to disclose who his next opponent will be. He has previously triumphed over notable fighters such as Ryan Garcia, Frank Martin, Léo Santa Cruz, and Isaac Cruz. There are speculations that a rematch with Garcia could take place, along with potential matchups against Vasiliy Lomachenko or Shakur Stevenson.
