Launching from bases in Austin and Paris, the startup GROWL has unveiled a cutting-edge fitness platform that reinvents classic boxing training while announcing a seed funding round of $4.75 million.

The startup has attracted investments from a variety of venture capital firms and prominent athletes, including lead investor Skip Capital, Teampact.ventures, and Kima Ventures. This funding round also includes contributions from professional athletes such as Ciryl Gane, Gaël Fickou, and Julien Marchand, as well as tech entrepreneurs like Jonathan Cherki and Charles Gorintin.

GROWL’s mission is to make boxing training accessible to everyone by offering an interactive, AI-driven fitness solution that brings top-tier training right into users’ homes.

Cutting-Edge Technology Meets Fitness

The primary product from GROWL integrates advanced technologies such as high-definition projection, edge-AI computing, multi-camera 3D motion sensing, and Unreal Engine-driven gaming to create a deeply engaging fitness environment. The wall-mounted device features a full-sized, interactive coach that delivers live, customized feedback during workouts.

“GROWL is truly something new,” remarked Ciryl Gane. “Each workout feels like a game, pulling you back for more. It makes boxing enjoyable and approachable while retaining all the excitement.”

A Comprehensive Fitness Solution for All

Aimed at individuals aged 10 and above, the platform presents an array of workouts including boxing, strength training, yoga, and flexibility routines. The system adjusts to accommodate various fitness levels and aspirations, serving as a holistic fitness solution for families.

Adam Cook from Skip Capital emphasized the product’s adaptability, highlighting its potential to deliver “a full, immersive at-home fitness journey, with endless options for future content and exercises.”

Market Potential and Vision

GROWL is making its entrance into the $322 billion global fitness market, specifically eyeing the $110 billion U.S. sector with a distinctive value offering. The company’s goal is to make boxing training engaging, accessible, and driven by technology.

CEO and Co-founder Léo Desrumaux shared a personal insight: “I discovered my strength through combat sports and boxing. I came to understand that I’m not fragile – I can take a hit and respond.”

Pricing and Availability

The device is marketed as a premium connected fitness product, priced at around $150 per month on a 48-month plan or $190 on a 36-month plan, which includes both hardware and a subscription for unlimited family access.

Pre-sales are anticipated to begin in April 2025, with interested consumers able to find more information at joingrowl.com.
