MILWAUKEE – A 12-year-old boy from Delafield channeled his passion for skateboarding into a toy collection effort for the U.S. Marine Corps’ “Toys for Tots” initiative this past Saturday.
Bobby Merkt put together a skateboarding contest requiring participants to donate a toy for entry. He aimed not only to gather toys but also to unite the community through the event.

“There aren’t many events at Four Seasons Skate Park, and I wanted to gather everyone from the skating community for a major event,” he remarked.
Merkt advertised the competition, which featured prizes for winners, on Instagram. He mentioned that participants traveled from Illinois, Minnesota, and of course, Wisconsin.
Participants at the contest on Saturday were also encouraged to bring toy donations.
