Bengaluru is poised to receive a cutting-edge establishment at the Sports Authority of India’s Nethaji Subhas Southern Centre shortly, which intends to utilize science and technology to improve athletes’ performance.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and SAI to create the “HAL-SAI High Performance Centre” as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“The centre will encompass facilities covering Anthropometry, Biomechanics, Exercise Biochemistry, Nutrition, Sports and Exercise Physiology, Psychology, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy, and more,” HAL stated.
Additional initiatives
HAL is also in the process of setting up a football academy in Bengaluru, featuring Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)-compliant football pitches, aimed at discovering, identifying, and nurturing young talent. A prior HAL-SAI sports training centre was established by the defense PSU under its CSR initiatives in Koraput, Orissa, focusing on training tribal youth in archery, football, and athletics.
