Men's Track & Field Claims Victory In Three Individual Events This Season

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The UMBC men’s track and field squad commenced its indoor campaign by participating in the St. John’s University Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational held in Staten Island, N.Y. The Retrievers clinched victories in three individual events during the competition.
 
Senior Zachary Taylor triumphed in the 3,000 meters clocking in at 8:42.61, while senior Mack McKeever secured eighth place with a time of 9:03.84.
 
Junior Donovan Young claimed victory in the triple jump, achieving a distance of 14.20 meters.
 
Senior Ethan Hart dominated the shot put with a throw measuring 16.22 meters, while freshman Xavier Gooden finished third with a throw of 12.09 meters.
 
Freshman Joseph Addo took second place in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 8.68 seconds, and his classmate Malik Aremu crossed the finish line in fifth place with a time of 8.91 seconds.
 
UMBC secured four of the five top finishes in the 300 meters, led by sophomore Alpha Balde, who earned second place in 33.93 seconds. Senior Jaeden Burke (34.37), sophomore Marquis Miller (34.64), and senior Damon Dukes (34.82) came in third to fifth, respectively.
