The monitor manufacturer JAPANNEXT has unveiled two new eSports monitors adorned with camouflage design elements. The JN-IPS238G200F-Camo and JN-IPS238G200F-Camo-W are both 23.8-inch FHD gaming displays featuring 200 Hz IPS panels, differing mainly in color themes, with the former showcasing earth tones, while the latter is predominantly white along with some gray hues.
Camouflage-themed PC components appear to experience cyclical trends in popularity. A glance at the Tom’s Hardware archives shows we previously covered the NZXT Camo Chassis back in 2010, and back in 2017, MSI launched a series of Camo Squad products including desktops, laptops, GPUs, and accessories. Now, in 2024, we have two camo gaming monitors making an appearance.
These monitors could have easily missed the mark, but promotional images suggest they are quite appealing. JAPANNEXT’s JN-IPS238G200F-Camo features subdued earth tones. The camo print resembles a version of ‘Duck Hunter’ also known as ‘US M1942’, though from the front it’s not very noticeable due to its slim bezels and the monitor stand opting for a solid color.
The ‘white’ variant, JN-IPS238G200F-Camo-W, mirrors the other monitor but features a white stand and a grayscale rendition of Duck Hunter on the back and bezel. There’s some disappointment that JAPANNEXT didn’t incorporate a winter-themed camo. Their claim that these plastic camo designs enhance gaming immersion is rather exaggerated.
Row 0 – Cell 0 | JN-IPS238G200F-Camo (-W) |
Panel | 23.8-inch IPS with a peak brightness of 400cd/m2, sRGB: 100%, and DCI-P3: 93% |
Performance | 200Hz refresh rate and a response time of 0.5ms (MPRT), FreeSync support |
Connectivity | HDMI 2.0 x2, DisplayPort 1.2 x1, audio out |
Stand | Tilt only. Compatible with 75×75 VESA mounts |
Other | Low blue light mode and flicker-free, 2Wx2 speakers, 3.2kg |
The specifications are notably balanced if you’re satisfied with a 24-inch FHD display capable of achieving 200 Hz. Solid specs in terms of maximum brightness, color range, VESA mount compatibility, and built-in stereo speakers mean there are no glaring weaknesses.
Considering these specifications and the Japanese retail price roughly equivalent to $130, we have little to criticize about the JN-IPS238G200F-Camo and JN-IPS238G200F-Camo-W. It’s also worth mentioning that JAPANNEXT sells directly to customers in France, Italy, Spain, and Germany.
