SAN ANTONIO — UTSA is set to participate in its fifth consecutive and sixth overall bowl game, taking on Coastal Carolina in the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Monday, December 23. The game is slated for a 10 a.m. CT kickoff at Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina, and will be broadcasted nationally on ESPN.
Recently, UTSA introduced the Postseason Excellence Fund, aimed at providing student-athletes with unique experiences, commemorative items for the postseason, and high-level resources fit for championship teams.

Guided by fifth-year head coach Jeff Traylor, the Roadrunners head into the Myrtle Beach Bowl boasting a 6-6 overall record. UTSA has triumphed in three of its last four games this season, highlighted by the program’s inaugural ranked victory with a 44-36 home win over No. 25 Memphis on November 2.
This matchup will be UTSA’s first encounter with Coastal Carolina, which is also entering the game with a 6-6 record. The contest will take place at the home venue of the Chanticleers, currently in their second year under head coach Tim Beck.
The Roadrunners are making the trip to the Palmetto State to pursue their second consecutive bowl victory. Last December, UTSA overcame Marshall, 35-17, during the 2023 Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl, marking the program’s first bowl win.
Two years prior, in the Cure Bowl, No. 22 UTSA established a 12-0 lead at halftime, but No. 23 Troy came back to clinch an 18-12 win in Orlando, Florida.
In 2021, 24th-ranked UTSA faced nationally ranked San Diego State in the Frisco Bowl, where the Aztecs pulled ahead late for a 38-24 victory—UTSA’s third-ever bowl appearance.
During Traylor’s inaugural season, UTSA nearly achieved a comeback against No. 16 Louisiana in the 2020 First Responder Bowl at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas, recovering from a 24-7 deficit to tie, only to lose 31-24 following a late touchdown by the Ragin’ Cajuns.
UTSA’s first-ever bowl appearance occurred in just its sixth season at the 2016 New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque, where New Mexico surged to a 10-point lead, ultimately securing a 23-20 victory over the Roadrunners on a chilly, windy afternoon at University Stadium.
