North Jackson triumphed over No. 9-ranked Haleyville with scores of 4-2 and 7-3, securing a place in the Class 4A state quarterfinals. This marks the first occasion the Chiefs have progressed beyond the second round.
Next Friday, North Jackson (20-8) will host No. 8 Brooks (30-11) in the third round series.
Meanwhile, Pisgah and Section saw their seasons come to a close.
Pisgah (11-13) was overcome by Area 14 rival and No. 4 Plainview in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs, losing 7-3 in Game 1 and 7-2 in Game 2.
Section (9-17) faced a sweep from No. 9 Falkville in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs, falling 3-2 in Game 1 and 8-0 in Game 2.
