COLUMBIA, Mo. — Tamar Bates scored 29 points and secured five steals, propelling Missouri past Hunter Dickinson and top-ranked Kansas with a score of 76-67 on Sunday.

Mark Mitchell contributed 17 points, marking Missouri’s first victory over Kansas since they triumphed 74-71 on February 4, 2012.

After the final buzzer, Missouri fans charged the court, an act that Tigers head coach Dennis Gates welcomed.

“I think they truly earned that moment,” Gates remarked.

Anthony Robinson II added 11 points along with five steals for the Tigers (8-1), while Josh Gray led the team with 10 rebounds.

Despite Dickinson’s performance of 19 points and 14 rebounds, he also suffered from seven turnovers. The Jayhawks (7-2) have now dropped two consecutive road games following their 76-63 loss to Creighton on Wednesday.

Missouri seized a 57-33 advantage with 14:15 left in the game thanks to a jump shot from Tony Perkins. However, the Jayhawks responded by outscoring the Tigers 30-8 in the next 11:55.
