Harris, Park secure victories on the second day of the Denison Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio (Dec. 6) – The fifth-ranked Denison swimming team had a standout day Friday at the 2024 Denison Invitational held at the Trumbull Aquatics Center, marked by two individual triumphs. Furthermore, the Big Red achieved 15 additional ‘B’ cut times in the second day of the event. 
 
After two days of competition, the Big Red has accumulated 1104.5 points, placing them in second in the team standings. Emory University is in the lead with 1297 points, while UIndy holds third with 963 points. Eastern Michigan University (729.5) and Wash U of St. Louis (657) complete the roster of participating schools in this highly competitive meet. 
 
The individual victories were claimed by Emily Harris in the 200 Free, recording an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:48.98 for first place. Later in the evening, Jassy Park secured first in the 100 Back with a ‘B’ cut time of 55.21. 
 
Denison kicked off the evening session by earning second place in the 200 Medley Relay. The team comprised of Park, Riley Tofflemire, Maja Palmroos, and Grace Kadlecik achieved a time of 1:41.63 with an NCAA ‘B’ cut to secure second place. 
 
Erika Schraber placed sixth in the 400 IM finals with a time of 4:33.78. 
 
In the 100 Fly finals, Denison had a strong showing, placing three swimmers in the top six. Emma Pritchett took third with a ‘B’ cut time of 55.20. Palmroos also produced a ‘B’ cut time in prelims (55.60) and finished fifth in finals, while Amber Croonquist finished sixth at 56.32. 
 
Brown achieved a ‘B’ cut time in the 200 Free finals, finishing in 1:49.05, narrowly behind Harris. 
 
Both Tofflemire and Drue Thielking obtained ‘B’ cut times in the 100 Breast finals, with Tofflemire finishing third at 1:02.97 and Thielking fourth at 1:03.00. 
 
Denison wrapped up the evening with a second-place finish in the 800 Free Relay. The team including Brown, Annie Pfeufer, Avery Vogen, and Harris achieved a ‘B’ cut time of 7:24.95.
