The North Allegheny Tigers kept the winning mentality alive after the one-week hiatus with a 6-4 win over the West Allegheny Indians at the RMU Island Sports Center on Sunday morning.
The Tigers started off strong with an unassisted slap shot goal by junior Stefan Craig. Keeping the pressure on the Indians, North Allegheny scored again with a goal by senior Ethan Zadnik assisted by sophomore Christian Mark. Finishing off the period, junior Matthew Noffsinger went coast to coast to score an unassisted goal improving the Tigers lead to 3-0.
West Allegheny regained their footing by scoring the first two goals of the second period cutting the Tigers lead to one. Momentum did not last long for the Indians as shortly after the ensuing face-off Noffsinger took the puck and scored his second goal of the game. West Allegheny remained focused scoring one more goal to end the frame with the Tigers up 4-3 with one period remaining.
The third period saw Noffsinger keep the scoring going with his third of the day claiming the hat trick. West Allegheny kept their hopes alive by scoring one more to cut the lead back to one, but it would be the Tigers claiming the last goal of the period with Mark finding the back of the net from Noffsinger ending the game at 6-4.
Junior goalie Claudia Kushon earns the win as the Tigers improve their record to 7-4 and will resume play next Sunday against the Canon-McMillan Big Macs at 9:00 AM at the RMU Island Sports Center
