AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women’s basketball guard Kenzie Hare will miss the remainder of the season, Iowa State announced Wednesday night. Hare has struggled with an ongoing hip injury and after exhausting conservative treatment options, has decided to medically redshirt this season.
“Kenzie has made an amazing impact from day one!” said head coach Bill Fennelly. “I am disappointed for her and our team, but this is the best thing for Kenzie. I know she will come back better than ever and have a huge impact on our team.”
“Due to an ongoing hip injury, we have decided it’s best for me and the team that I redshirt this year,” said Hare. “I look forward to supporting my teammates the remainder of this season and for my next two seasons as a Cyclone!”
A junior from Bartlett, Illinois, Hare appeared in all 10 games for the Cyclones while making eight starts. She averaged 8.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game as Iowa State’s third leading scorer.
No. 18 Iowa State takes on No. 21 Iowa in Iowa City for the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. and the game will be televised on FS1.
