Playing for the first time in 18 days, Pacific showed little rust, racing out to a double-digit lead midway through the first half.
But the Boxers could not stay on top in the second half, falling 85-83 to Schreiner University Thursday night inside the Stoller Center.
Zachary Bates gave Pacific a spark off the bench, knocking down three 3-pointers and scoring 11 points in the first eight minutes to give the Boxers a 21-11 lead.
Pacific led by five points, 46-41, at halftime. But the Mountaineers tied the game at 49-49 on a 3-pointer with 17:10 remaining.
After Schreiner went on a 9-0 run to take a seven-point lead, 58-51, with 15:06 remaining, the Boxers answered with a 6-0 run to get within one point.
Devin Fortune and Jake Blazona then made back-to-back 3-pointers to put Pacific on top, 63-61, with 10:51 to go.
After the Boxers stretched their lead to six points, 76-70, with 5:52 remaining, Schreiner again answered with a 7-0 run to re-take the lead.
A Drew Gumin layup put Pacific on top 82-80 with 2:11 to go, but the Boxers managed just one free throw the rest of the way.
Fortune finished with 21 points and six rebounds to lead Pacific.
