CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program heads to the sunshine state for a weekend full of competition.
To start the weekend, Cincinnati will take on host University of Miami and Florida Atlantic University in a tri-meet beginning at 11 a.m. A select group of Bearcats will then travel to Biscayne Bay, Fla. to compete at the CSCAA Open Water Championships.
The tri-meet will feature 12 non-traditional events, agreed upon by both head coaches. Additional events are listed below:
8×50 Medley Relay, 8×50 Freestyle Relay
- Four swimmers, each swim 50-yard twice
1000-yard Crescendo Freestyle Relay
- Four swimmers, 400 -> 300 -> 200 -> 100
50-yard Backstroke, 50-yard Breaststroke, 50-yard Butterfly, 100-yard Individual Medley
150-yard Mystery Event
- Send two swimmers up and draw out of a hat to determine stroke (Butterfly, Backstroke, IM, Breaststroke or Freestyle)
4×100 Butterfly Relay, 4×100 Freestyle Relay, 4×100 Backstroke Relay, 4×100 Breaststroke Relay
- Two swimmers, each swim 100-yard twice

The Bearcats collected three Big 12 weekly awards for the third time this season, the league announced on Wednesday.
Hunter Gubeno (Men’s Swimmer) and Owen Chiles (Men’s Newcomer) grabbed their third and second accolades of the fall season, respectively. Gubeno has now claimed the honor four times since joining the conference in 2023.
Lindi Worrell (Women’s Swimmer) received the first weekly award of her career.
Graduate student Hunter Gubeno was named Big 12’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week after securing first place against Indiana in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:41.20.
Sophomore Lindi Worrell enters her name into the mix after a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a time 1:02.55.
Freshman Owen Chiles continues his standout debut season, earning his second Big 12 Weekly Award with a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:47.08.

The women were defeated 171-123, while the men fell 184.5-107.5.
The Bearcats were led by Gubeno who grabbed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:41.20
Senior Kaylee Nagel and Worrell each finished third in the 100-yard freestyle (50.38) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.55), respectively.
Freshman Chiles grabbed second in the 200-yard individual medley notching a time of 1:47.08.
On the diving side, senior Will Claus recorded a NCAA Zone Cut score in the 3-meter dive with a score of 337.43. Sophomore Langely Petersen finished fifth in the 1-meter (246.75) and sixth in the 3-meter (246.90).
