Dashboard cameras can come in handy on the road, especially if you are accident-prone or would like to know what goes on in or around your vehicle.

These cameras capture just about everything, which can make for some pretty interesting footage whether that’s a load of lumber flying and hitting a single vehicle on a busy overpass or a tornado tearing through a building in Lincoln, Nebraska in a matter of seconds.

Dangerous, and often unscripted moments, like the ones described above have happened to a number of motorists across the country in 2024, leaving many to rely on their sheer wit and determination to survive.

Videos show this year’s wildest dashcam moments A building in Lincoln, Nebraska was blown to smithereens by a fast-moving tornado in a matter of seconds. The only witnesses to this major meteorological event? The people inside the building, who all survived, and footage collected by an unattended vehicle in the parking lot.A motorist captured the moment leading up and the aftermath of a small plane crash near a highway Victoria, Texas that destroyed three vehicles and left four people injured.A truck loaded with some heavy cargo, namely lumber, lost its load, sending planks of wood flying towards cars making their way across a busy overpass. One vehicle was thrust toward the other side of the roadway by the sheer force, but thankfully no one was injured.

Two airplanes narrowly avoided collision in New York, managing to maneuver gracefully away from each other in a matter of seconds. The Federal Aviation Administration was reportedly looking into the incident.

A woman and her work truck dangled from the Second Street Bridge in Louisville, Kentucky for 40 minutes after a car unexpectedly veered into the same lane, damaging the front of the truck. The motorist who caused the collision, caught on dashcam footage, was charged in connection with the crash.

A road maintenance worker was left with a “frightening reminder” of the possible and unexpected dangers one can experience on the job, following a pretty close encounter with a Penske box truck in Whitney Point, New Jersey. The company-issued truck landed in a nearby field after demolishing the worker’s truck and blowing the hard hat right off his head.

A truck driver narrowly avoided death on a train track in Versailles, Ohio after failing to park right behind the railroad crossing. The train completely destroyed the tractor unit, which houses the engine, transmission and driver’s compartment, in a matter of seconds.
