The Tigers stayed put in the latest coaches poll.
Missouri basketball remained as the 12th team out in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll that was released Monday, but the Tigers received three fewer voting points despite winning its only game of the week. If the rankings extended that far, MU would be the 37th-ranked team in the country, per the coaches.
Mizzou received 18 voting points, down from 21 the previous week. First-place votes earn a team 25 voting points, second-place votes are worth 24 voting points, and so on until a 25th-place vote, which receives one voting point.
The Tigers have won nine straight games since falling on the road at Memphis, including a win over then-No. 1 Kansas in the Border War on Dec. 8. Mizzou defeated Long Island 88-61 on Saturday at Mizzou Arena.
This week, the Tigers face Jacksonville State on Tuesday evening before heading to St. Louis for a neutral-court matchup in the Braggin’ Rights game against Illinois on Sunday afternoon. The Illini were the third team out with 50 voting points in the latest coaches poll.
Tennessee and Auburn remained atop the rankings at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in Monday’s updated poll. The SEC has nine total teams in the top 25, the most of any conference, and has three more receiving votes.
In the updated rankings, Kentucky was No. 4, Florida was No. 6, Alabama was No. 7, Texas A&M was No. 11, Oklahoma was No. 15, Ole Miss was No. 16 and Mississippi State was No. 25. Arkansas, Georgia and Mizzou each were receiving votes.
On Mizzou’s nonconference schedule, Memphis climbed into the top 25 at No. 22, and Kansas moved up two spots to No. 8.

Mizzou remains outside AP Top 25
Missouri moved up one spot in the AP poll, but remained just outside the top 25. The Tigers received 120 voting points, which makes them the third team out of the poll.
The last team into the rankings at No. 25 was Clemson, which received 175 voting points.
The AP voters mostly followed the same route as the coaches, but had eight SEC teams ranked among the top 25, with Mississippi State dropping to the first team out.
In the Southeastern Conference, Tennessee was No. 1, Auburn was No. 2, Kentucky was No. 4, Alabama was No. 6, Florida was No. 7, Texas A&M was No. 12, Oklahoma was No. 14 and Ole Miss was No. 17.
Mississippi State, Arkansas and Mizzou, in order, were the first teams out of the top 25. Georgia and Texas both also received votes.
Kansas was No. 8, Memphis was No. 21 and Illinois received 70 voting points and was the fifth team out.
