KENNEDY FREEMAN ANNOUNCES SIGNING WITH THE UFC

Kennedy Freeman took to Instagram to announce that she has signed with the UFC following her championship win at Cage Warriors 181 in Newcastle. Freeman returned to MMA after a five-year hiatus from the sport, during which she focused on her boxing career. However, it wasn’t until she attended a UFC event in London that her passion for MMA was reignited.

Now 6-0 in her professional career, she aims to follow in the footsteps of her father, Ian Freeman. Ian competed six times under the UFC banner, with his most notable victory coming against former UFC champion Frank Mir in 2002.

Upon her return to MMA, Freeman signed with the regional promotion Cage Warriors, a well-established pathway to the UFC. The Stanley native fought three times following her comeback, earning three back-to-back finishes that ultimately caught the UFC’s attention.

The newly signed UFC fighter shared her excitement on Instagram with the following announcement:

“We did it, guys… UFC CONTRACT SIGNED!

What an unbelievable year 2024 has been. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the last 12 months of being back in this sport. Next year is going to be crazy. Lifelong goal achieved.”

It is still uncertain which division Freeman will compete in but since her return to MMA, she has been fighting at Bantamweight. As a promising new prospect from the North East of England, she is sure to generate excitement and anticipation among fans eagerly awaiting her debut.

While the exact date and opponent for Freeman’s debut remain unannounced, the UFC’s planned return to London presents a fitting opportunity for her to step into the Octagon on home soil.
