MINNEAPOLIS Oliver Moore and Brodie Ziemer from the University of Minnesota men’s hockey team were named to the 25-man roster for USA Hockey that will represent the United States at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa, Ontario, starting Dec. 26.

For the second-straight year, Moore will skate with the Americans and is the 26th Golden Gopher to play in multiple World Junior tournaments, while Ziemer is making his first appearance at the event. Minnesota has been represented by at least one player at the tournament in 46 of the 49 years it has been contested.

Moore registered three points on a goal and two assists in seven outings on the way to a perfect record and a gold medal at the tournament in 2024. This season, the sophomore from Mounds View, Minn., has 17 points behind five goals and 12 assists, while 12 of those points came over the last 10 outings before the holiday break. Moore matched a career high with three assists in a home shutout of Michigan (Dec. 6) as one of his five multi-point efforts this year.

Ziemer has eight goals and three assists for 11 points in his freshman campaign and became the 10th Maroon and Gold skater to reach double-digit scoring when he buried his second goal of the night in a home tie with Michigan State (Dec. 13). It was the first multi-goal performance of his career, and he added a third goal of the weekend the next night. The product of Chaska, Minn., has six goals, including two game winners in the past 11 contests.

Joining Moore and Ziemer in Ottawa is Minnesota’s associate head coach Steve Miller, who will be behind the bench as an assistant coach for the Red, White, and Blue for the eighth time.

A year ago, Ryan Chesley, Moore, Sam Rinzel, and Jimmy Snuggerud represented the Gophers and helped Team USA win its sixth-ever gold medal after a 6-2 victory over tournament host Sweden in the finals.

The Gophers in partnership with the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Sports and Events will host next year’s IIHF World Junior Championship at 3M Arena at Mariucci and the Xcel Energy Center from Dec. 26, 2025-Jan. 5, 2026.
