SOUTH BEND, Ind. — No. 3 Notre Dame (10-2, 1-0) wrapped up its 2024-25 non-conference schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 97-54 win over Loyola Maryland (5-5).

With a dish to Emma Risch midway through the final quarter, Olivia Miles notched the fifth triple-double of her career and second of the season. She already holds the Notre Dame record and is now just one shy of tying the ACC record. Miles finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Liza Karlen also had her best game to date in a Notre Dame uniform, finishing with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Liatu King recorded her seventh double-double of the season as well with 18 and 10. Hannah Hidalgo had 33 points, a pair shy of her career-high.

“Usually that game right before Christmas break is hard, so I thought we played better in the second half,” Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Coach Niele Ivey said after the game. “I thought Liv did an incredible job leading us. She made some passes I’ve never seen in my entire life. They were so amazing.”

After allowing a couple of early baskets, the Irish defense settled in while the offense went on a 13-0 run that included a Miles underhand, no-look pass to King. Notre Dame recorded an assist on five of its first six shots. The Irish ended the quarter on a 22-5 run and had their way in the paint, outscoring the Greyhounds in the lane 18-4 in Q1.

The Notre Dame offense stalled a bit in the second quarter, scoring just 16 points and going 6-17 from the floor. Karlen was a bright spot with 6 points and 3 rebounds, and the forward who missed the start of the season with a foot injury was tied for the game lead with 12 points at the half. She also had 6 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Notre Dame led 42-24 after 20 minutes. The Irish still have not trailed at the half this season.

Hidalgo had Notre Dame’s first 8 points of the third quarter and 10 of the first 12 for a 12-0 run for the home team. Hidalgo’s performance included a pair of treys and a steal and score off an inbound from Loyola to double them up, 54-27.

The highlight of the quarter game midway through, as Miles dished to Hidalgo through her legs for a bucket, Hidalgo notched a diving steal and threw it over her head backwards into the hands of King, who scored. Notre Dame had its largest lead of the game with 1:35 to play in Q3, up 35, and the lead continued to grow from there.

“Hannah and I just throw really random, crazy passes to each other,” Miles said postgame with a smile.

Notre Dame had Sarah Cernugel and its two new walk-ons, Luci Jensen and Bella Tehrani, play several minutes of the fourth quarter. Jensen recorded her first career assist.
