Sophie Hediger passed away on Monday, 23 December, victim of an avalanche in Arosa. She was 26 years old.The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) extends its deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family of Sophie Hediger, following the devastating news that came upon the snow sports community during this holiday season.Sophie was a proud member of Switzerland’s Snowboard Cross team and a beloved figure across the FIS World Cup tour. In 2022, she reached the apex of any athlete’s career: the Winter Olympic Games. There are no words to describe the sadness and pain caused by such a tragic loss. On behalf of the worldwide snow sports family, FIS can only join Swiss Ski, president Urs Lehmann, and the entire Swiss snow sports community in mourning.The FIS family stands by Sophie’s family, friends, and loved ones in honoring her memory – today and always.
