JOHN I. DAHLRathdrumI’m not against paying college athletes but some are getting millions from the bigger schools who have boosters with deep pockets. I don’t blame the players and Boise State is losing some great athletes and the coaches are asking the fans to donate money to keep some of these athletes. Several coaches are retiring early because of this situation. Marshall University canceled their football Bowl game because 21 players transferred just before the game. Hopefully something can be done to improve the situation.
As an 80-year-old longtime sports fan, the direction college sports is taking is being ruined by the transfer portal (where players can change teams almost any time) and the advent of NIL (name, image and likeness) payments to athletes.
